Glossary of Terms used by Jakob Böhme
Qualität: Quality as a welling-up (quellen) that is also a torment (Qual); a motion, not a property.
Qualifizierung: The act of qualifying/manifesting. Used of God, angels, and nature alike.
Quellgeister: The seven source-spirits; qualities generating one another in a circle.
Salitter: From saltpeter/niter; the divine substance or matrix from which things are born.
Marcurius: Sound, tone, motion; paired with Salitter as a divine music (note the spelling).
Natursprache: The language of nature, Adam's speech before Babel, in which words touch essences.
Ungrund: The groundless origin, a term of 1620 and after, not of the Aurora.
Grund: (ground); the self-knowledge into which the unfathomable comes.
Sophia: Divine Wisdom; the mirroring aspect of the deity, first appearing here.
Signatur: The outward mark by which an inner nature can be read. Systematised in 1622.
